La colección ofrece nueve grabaciones prolongadas de los sonidos de Atenas desde diferentes perspectivas y en distintos momentos del día, desde mañanas tranquilas hasta días y noches ajetreados. Con el fin de captar el paisaje sonoro de Atenas en todos sus matices, se utilizaron micrófonos Neumann de muy bajo ruido y grabadoras Sound Devices para realizar tomas prolongadas (de entre 8 y 19 minutos cada una), que suman en total más de dos horas de audio.

El lugar de grabación era una azotea de dos plantas situada en un edificio de tres pisos, sobre una calle muy estrecha y sin tráfico en las inmediaciones, lo que permitió grabar los sonidos de la ciudad desde cierta distancia y desde arriba: tráfico, restaurantes, bares, obras, pájaros… En algunas grabaciones nocturnas se oyen grillos a lo lejos, mientras que en otras diurnas se oye el aire acondicionado de un piso vecino en funcionamiento. La mayoría de las grabaciones también pueden utilizarse para representar el ambiente general de la ciudad, mientras que algunas tomas incluyen sonidos regionales específicos, como el «walla» griego, las iglesias y las cigarras, característicos del paisaje sonoro de la capital griega.
